UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide

UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide (UCWPA) seeks to work in partnership with clients and others in the community to empower individuals, strengthen families and build communities.

Overview

UCWPA, established in 1919, is a community service Agency of the Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) and part of UnitingCare Australia. UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide’s main areas of work include aged care, employment and training, homelessness, working with people with disabilities arising from mental illness, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and vulnerable young people, adults and families.

Partnerships

The Uniting Church in Australia was formed on 22 June 1977, as a union of three churches: the  Congregational Union of Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia. UCWPA has a partnership agreement with other South Australian UnitingCare Wesley community service agencies (Adelaide, Bowden and Port Pirie) and Memorandums of Understanding with many cultural and other communities within South Australia.

Governance

UCWPA is governed by a Board of 10 directors appointed by the South Australian Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia. Peter Bicknell is the Chair of the Board. Libby Craft is the Chief Executive Officer. UCWPA has over 900 staff, 175 volunteers and an annual turnover of $45 million drawn from Government grants, resident contributions, donations and investments.
