Christmas Day Lunch a Huge Success!
Thursday, January 14, 2010
On December 25th 2009 UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide held its’ first Christmas Day Luncheon for our clients in the community. A committee of dedicated staff began organising the luncheon in September and met monthly to discuss and strategise food preparations, gifts, entertainment and decorations for the clients of UCWPA. In total 70 clients attended the luncheon and 30 volunteers contributed their time on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for the setting up of the event, preparation of food, serving of meals and cleanup. According to all involved the initiative was certainly a success and many participants were overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of volunteers, staff, community members and donors. Attendees were sincerely appreciative to have somewhere special to be on Christmas Day and there was a real sense of celebration and camaraderie throughout the festivities. Sincerest thanks from the Christmas Day Luncheon Committee go to all involved especially the dedicated volunteers, BankSA Staff and Charitable Fund, Port Adelaide Enfield Council and the Port Anchor. Special thanks also to the staff of UCWPA who donated gifts for each guest. These gifts were of fantastic quality and the recipients were truly delighted with these special gestures of goodwill. We look forward to doing it all again this year!
