South East Community Living and Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Packages

Description of the Program

South East Community Living provides psychosocial rehabilitation to people with a mental illness in the South East Region of South Australia.  South East Community Living supports consumers to develop and/or maintain skills, resources and confidence they need to live in the community including securing and establishing independent housing. Support is available 7 days per week from 7am to 9pm.


The program supports and empowers individuals to:

  • access and maintain long term housing
  • increase independent living skills
  • fully and actively participate in the community
  • address physical and mental health needs

Eligibility for Service

  • Have a diagnosed mental illness or psychiatric disability (Access 1 Diagnosis)
  • Have complex needs which negatively affect their ability to live independently without support
  • Require a low to moderate level of support to establish and maintain a safe living environment
  • Be currently living in inappropriate or unsustainable accommodation, and will not have the resources  (personal/economic) to secure alternative, appropriate housing
  • Be in receipt of a Disability Services (or other) pension
  • Demonstrate a natural connection with the local community through current or previous residency and/or the presence of a supportive familial and/ or social network
  • Be willing to participate in the program, and to receive independent living support services
  • Be referred to the program by any one of the primary agencies forming the partnership

Capacity of the Program

South East Community Living is funded to provide 112 hours of support per week ranging from 6-21 hours per person.

Service and Funding Agreement

South East Community Living is funded by the Department for Families and Communities and Department of Health. South East Community Living provides services in partnership with the South Australian Housing Trust and South East Regional Health Community Mental Health Service.
