Neighbourhood Access

Description of the Program

A community support program assisting people with a mental illness to expand their social networks and supports to enable them to have stronger links with the community in which they live.  An innovative program Neighbourhood Access supports consumers to take up social, vocational, training and recreational opportunities.  Currently Neighbourhood Access  supports consumers to participate in a Community Radio Program on 5PBA called Recovery and Wellness (RAW), a self improvement course for women and men called Pamper Me, a drop in activity program in Gawler called SPRING (Supporting Peoples Recovery In Gawler), and Mental Health Week activities such as Carnival in the North.  Neighbourhood Access operates in the northern metropolitan region of Adelaide.

Neighbourhood Access supports and empowers individuals to:

  • fully and actively participate in the community
  • develop social and recreational interactions and establish friendships
  • generate their own goals and self management skills
