Metro Options

Description of the Program

Metro Options is a psychosocial community support program for people with a dual diagnosis of acquired brain injury and a mental illness.  This innovative program has been developed from a collaborative partnership between UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide and Disability SA (formerly Brain Injury Options Coordination). The program provides individually tailored support services to consumers with exceptional/complex needs in the metropolitan Adelaide region.

Metro Options supports and empowers individuals to:

  • develop structures that assist to increase levels of independence
  • enhance their quality of life
  • maintain a safe position in their community.

Eligibility for Service

Referrals to Metro Options are through Disability SA and all referrals must satisfy DSA service eligibility criteria. DSA maintains primary Case Management responsibilities for the clients and Metro Options provides the ongoing support.

Capacity of the Program

Metro Options currently provides services to 23 consumers with funding from various sources, with the majority of funding from Home and Community Care.  Consumers receive 4-6 hours support per week.

Service and Funding Agreement

The Office of Disability and Client Services, utilising Home and Community Care funds have contracted UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide to:

  • provide a comprehensive, coordinated and integrated range of services of basic maintenance and support services
  • increase independence at home and in the community, thereby enhancing quality of life and/or preventing their inappropriate admission to long-term residual care.
