Avalon

Description of the Program

A group of units in the southern suburbs providing housing and support to 10 consumers and 8 tertiary students on low incomes, operating in partnership with Housing Spectrum. Avalon is an extension of the Metro Access Southern Program and was initially established to meet the housing needs of consumers exiting psychiatric hospital wards.  The mix of the tertiary students and consumers in the group of units is an attempt to encourage community integration.

Avalon supports and empowers consumers to:

  • Access suitable independent housing (private rental, Housing Associations, SAHT)

  • Access appropriate mental health and medical supports.
