Paralowie Youth Service (PYS) is a vibrant, integrated Youth and Community facility for young people and their families based in the City of Salisbury. Paralowie Youth Service provides access to a range of programs and services to support young people and increase their connection with and participation in the wider community.

Open: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

Who is the service for?
Young people aged between 12-25 years of age who are at risk of emotional, social and/or physical harm and who may be experiencing one or more of the following issues;
• Homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless
• Experiencing mental health issues
• At risk of being in contact with the juvenile justice system or developing behaviours that might place them at risk
• At risk of leaving school early or interested in re -engaging with a learning pathway
• Alcohol and drug use and/or abuse
• Experiencing learning difficulties
• Behavioural issues

What we offer….
Paralowie Youth Service provides a range of services for individuals and group programs; we are able to provide support in a number of areas including:

• Linkages and Partnerships
• Outreach
• FreshStart - Alternative Education
• Northern Connexions – ICAN funded project
• Community Development

We are committed to working in partnership with young people to assist them to find the most appropriate supports and services to meet their needs. This might include finding accommodation, completing their education,  finding a health service, information about the local area, or involvement in recreation activities.

A strong youth participation focus underpins the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the services provided to young people.

GROUP PROGRAMS
Paralowie Youth Service hosts a number of different group programs throughout the year. Current group work programs include:

Mums the Word:  Thursday 10 - 12pm
Mum’s the Word in run in partnership with The Second Story North. The program is aimed at young women up to 25 years of age who are pregnant or have a child/ren. The program provides social support, parenting skills development, and an opportunity to gain support from your peers. The program is run in partnership with The Second Story North. A free crèche is provided by trained childcare providers.

FreshStart 
A holistic, early intervention education program that targets young people aged between 12 and 15 years who have disengaged from mainstream schooling.  It aims to increase resilience, numeracy and literacy and core life skills, with the view of the young person returning to mainstream education or entering employment or further education upon completion.

Independent Living Skills Program
A 10 week program designed to assist young people who are living independently or moving out of supported accommodation. The program aims to equip young people with skills to increase their success of managing a tenancy and living independently. Topics covered in the ILS program include budgeting and finance, cooking, cleaning, and partying safely. ILS is offered a number of times through out the year and can be offered after school hours or in evenings if a need is identified.

Northern Connexions
Northern Connexions is a program that engages young people aged between 16 and 19 years who are not involved in a learning or earning pathway. The program endeavors to work with young people to strengthen skills and abilities in many different areas, as well as complete Certificate 1 in Introductory Vocational Education (IVEC). While on the program students have access to ongoing case management support and programs can be tailored to meet each student’s individual needs.  Northern Connexions ultimately aims to assist young people in alleviating barriers that they face in accessing and participating in a learning or earning pathway.

FLO Case Management
Case management support to young people utilising the Life Coaching framework.  Young people are supported to identify their goals for education and employment, potential barriers to their achievement, and empowered to achieve these through a strength based approach.  Young people are encouraged to access community based learning options and will be involved in sessions to further develop their life skills through goal setting, problem solving, positive communication and socialisation with other young people.

OTHER PROGRAMS
Paralowie Youth Service also offers one off group programs as requested. PYS welcomes participation and contribution from young people, if you have some ideas or would like to become involved contact us or call in and see us!

FACILITIES HIRE
Paralowie Youth Service has a range of long or short term spaces available for program delivery or office space. Functions and meetings can be held on site. For more information contact us.
