Employment Access Bordertown

Employment Access Bordertown, also known as Tatiara Employment Support Service (TESS) provides professional guidance and support to people with disabilities, particularly mental health related disabilities,  to gain and maintain employment.

Eligibility:
Job Seekers with barriers to employment are assessed by Centrelink using a Job Capacity Assessment  to determine eligibility. Job Seekers may start this process by making an appointment with TESS to dicuss their training and employment needs, or alternatively by contacting a Centrelink Disability Officer.

How the Program works:
Job Seekers work on a one to one or a group basis with a Vocational Consultant to develop a comprehensive Activity Agreement to meet employment goals and needs. Actions may include:

  • Skills Review
  • Resume Preparation
  • Career Planning
  • Training Needs Analysis
  • Job Search Techniques
  • Interview Skills
  • Cold canvassing to employers
  • Work Experience Placements to determine job suitability and gain references
  • On going support after employment achieved
  • Opportunities to breakdown other barriers to employment

  • Staff experienced in working with disabled job seekers
  • We come to you! Appointments made in all towns in the Tatiara

  • Financial Incentives to employers to assist with training new workers
  • Training given in community awareness, confidence building
