Employment Access (EA) provides a range of Specialist Employment Services. EA supports jobseekers with a disability, particularly mental health related disabilities, to find and maintain Supported or Open Employment. EA also runs an Aboriginal Employment program called 'CARE WORKS!' - a training and employment program to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people establish a career in Aged Care.
OPEN EMPLOYMENT
In Open Employment, jobseekers work closely with an Employment and Training Officer to:
Training is a significant part of helping people with disabilities to get and maintain work. EA also promotes pathways to employment for students with disabilities.
EA operates from Alberton, Elizabeth, Morphett Vale, Mount Gambier, Bordertown and Kingston SE.
SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT
Supported Employment assists employees to run Port Business Partnerships (Alberton), STEP Enterprises (Elizabeth) and Kingston Supported Employment Service (including Grandma's Pantry) as viable businesses. Port Business Partnerships and STEP Enterprises provide work in industrial sewing, office/house cleaning, garden maintenance, car detailing and light industrial process work and packaging. Employees have the choice of working a minimum of 8 hours per week and have the opportunity to share in the profits of the business, decision making and day-to-day running of the business. In Kingston SE, the business service employs people with a wide range of disabilities in catering and lawn mowing.
CARE WORKS!
CARE WORKS! provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with employment preparation and vocational training which leads directly to Traineeships or other general employment in the Aged Care industry. Mentor support is provided to people on the program. Jobs may include Personal Servicing Worker (Aged Care) or other roles in Aged Care such as Clerical Officer (Office Administration), Facilities Maintenance, Horticulture, Food Services, etc. CARE WORKS! also provides advice and support to employers who want to implement a strategy to provide and sustain successful employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in their organisation.
EA also provides Day Options, Supported Tenancy and Independent Living Support programs in Bordertown and Kingston SE.
