Metro Adelaide Community Living

Description of the Program

A community support and housing program for people with a mental illness who have either been affected by the closure of a Supported Residential Facility (SRF) or are seeking to exit an SRF/Boarding House and live independently in the community. The program provides psychosocial rehabilitation support in partnership with a range of community agencies. Metro Adelaide Community Living (MACL) incorporates the Prospect Community Living (PCL) and Daw Park Community Living (DPCL) programs and operates across most of metropolitan Adelaide. The MACL Program has been operating since September 2004.

Metro Adelaide Community Living supports and empowers individuals to:

  • Fully and actively participate in the community including pursuit of social, recreational, and educational activities
  • Access suitable independent housing (private rental, Housing Associations, SAHT)
  • Increase independent living skills through the development and maintenance of general housekeeping skills (e.g., cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping)
  • Access appropriate mental health and medical supports.
