Portway Housing

Portway is one of over 40 housing associations in South Australia which have been established to provide affordable housing for specific groups of people who are in some way disadvantaged in accessing suitable rental accommodation.

Portway aims to assist low income families, young people under 25 years of age, people who are living with a mental health related disability and refugees.

Although Portway is an independent organisation, with its own board of management, it benefits greatly from the ongoing support of UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide. Portway is funded and regulated by the Community Partnerships and Growth (CP&G).

Eligibility

To be eligible for Portway accommodation you must match one of our four target groups as well as meeting the government’s Housing Eligibility Tests relating to maximum levels of income and assets. You must then be able to demonstrate a good tenancy history. We do not accept Registrations of Interest from people who are already receiving subsidized rental accommodation via another community housing organisation or the South Australian Housing Trust. Before requesting a Registration of Interest form, please check your eligibility by clicking the link below:

What do we offer ?

Portway offers long term housing at subsidized rental rates. Rent is set at 25% of gross household income plus a small tenancy levy. We have a full range of property types, including units and townhouses, as well as free standing and semi-detached houses. Most of our properties are in the Western suburbs, but we do have houses as far South as Hove, as far North as Salisbury and as far East as Magill.

How to register your interest

There is a written Registration of Interest form which can be collected from our office at Level 1, 64 Dale Street, Port Adelaide, or it can be posted or emailed to you upon request. The lodgement of a Registration of Interest form does not guarantee housing.

Emergency or priority housing needs

Unfortunately, Portway Housing is unable to offer emergency or priority housing. If you require immediate assistance with housing, please contact Crisis Care on 131 611 or visit the Crisis Care website.
